Adjusting hydraulic brakes with "stick method"?

Posted by Paul Reasenberg on Oct. 20, 1998 at 14:07:29

Can anyone provide references to books or other publications on the care and feeding of Ford hydraulic brakes that have been installed on A's? I'm not referring now to how to install juice brakes -- rather, how to adjust them.

A fellow club member told me he thought the procedure described in the May/June (1996?) Restorer on Adjusting Service Brakes, using the "stick" method, also applies to hydraulic brakes. That is, set the pedal at the 1", 1-1/2" and 2" notches in the stick, and adjust the brakes (by rotating the eccentric pins) for "no drag", "light drag", "heavy drag" and "locked" conditions. In that method, the rears kick in first, then the fronts.

Does anyone agree? Disagree?

Thanks,
Paul
