Thanks! You say you set all four brakes to just be touching, then back up "a couple of notches". On my hydraulic brakes, there are no notches in the adjustment. The adjuster is an eccentric cam (serves as pivor pin for shoe, at bottom) with a locking nut. The cam has a 360 degree range. I seem to recall a notched "star" wheel adjustment on an old car of mine in the 60's. But on my converted A, its just the smoothly turning eccentric, as I say. I can set it to where it just drags a little, or just before that point.

The rest of what you say makes perfect sense. In hydraulics, the fluid pressure is equal everywhere, so if there's going to be a bias in force, it has to come from different cylinder sizes, which I think is the case.
