Axles & King Pins

I am redoing a front end and have discovered that the king pin holes at the ends of the axle are worn oversize. The old king pins were held in place with what looks like brass shims made especially for that purpose, but no one I can find knows anything about such shims. I'd really like to keep this axle since it is the car's original and it is straight. I've had a couple of suggestions for fixes. One is to have a machine shop true up the holes and sleeve them to the proper size (whatever that may be).The other is to have a machine shop enlarge the holes and press in spindle bolt bushings. Does anyone know if either of these alternatives is preferable, or if there is another fix I don't know about? Thanks.
