I've never really put much thought into this before, maybe you guys have some opinions to share. I've driven original A'sthousands of miles for the last 30 years.Often asdaily drivers. As I get older and the speed limits increase I'm concerned about maintaining a safe all day highway speed of55 mph.So I'm building what I'm hoping will be a "Bullet Proof" cross-country driver. It'll have a B motor with overdrive and 18" wheels. But I'd like to keepother modifications to a minimum. My question is:Are hydraulic brakes that much better than well restored mechanicals with soft linings and drum reinforcements? I've always had good luck with mechanicals and don't mind adjusting/maintaining them, still my concern is safety..... |
