Mr. Shebley, The same arguements can be said about the hydraulic safety, I've had the pedal go the floor with them too. The key is well/ proper maintainance. If your mechanicals lock the wheels it ain't gonna git any better. Only thing I would do is go with cast drums. Just my 2 cents, GW
: I've driven original A'sthousands of miles for the last 30 years.Often asdaily drivers. As I get older and the speed limits increase I'm concerned about maintaining a safe all day highway speed of55 mph.So I'm building what I'm hoping will be a "Bullet Proof" cross-country driver. It'll have a B motor with overdrive and 18" wheels. But I'd like to keepother modifications to a minimum. : My question is:Are hydraulic brakes that much better than well restored mechanicals with soft linings and drum reinforcements? I've always had good luck with mechanicals and don't mind adjusting/maintaining them, still my concern is safety..... |
