It made sense when you said that it never had a seal, since I couldn't find a place for one. The O-Ring did a good job of keeping the oil off of the outside of the frame and confining it to the inside. The bushings to my untrained eye and hand to appear fine. The shaft seems snug enough, but then I've never seen pefect one. I checked my Bratton's catalog for the exchange unit you mentioned and it does seem like a good idea.

I met someone who loved the roller bearings, said it made it felt like power steering. While that seems like a good thing, I like the idea of the seal the best. While I can accept adding oil on a regular basis, I drive the car a lot, and that means adding oil every 2 to 4 days. That doesn't seem right to me some how, but I'm no expert.
