: Hi Bill, the bracket you need is A 13470-A for the early AR pickup. It would be used with the drum type tail light. The bracket mounts to the underside of the bed rail (with a wood block as a spacer) and extends out behind the rear fender. I don't have the book you mentioned so I can't compare that one to the correct one, but if you have Brattons catalog you can see the A 13470-A and the later bracket A 13470-B. Both of these brackets mount the same but the extended section has a different shape. The later bracket used the teacup style tail light.
: There was one more style of bracket used even later in production (A 13472-B), I think it was only used on the widebed pickup but not quite sure.
: Since discontinued parts were used up on the commercial vehicles it may not be unusual to find an early bracket on a later truck but not the other way around.

Thank you Dan.

The bracket I was questioning is the one for AR pickups, and early dual brake pickups, which had the taillamp and licence UNDER the bed, not to the left.On page 110 of "The Ford Model A, as Henry Built it" shows a roadster pickup wiht this light arrangement, and on page 111, is a late 28 roadster pickup, with the drum taillamp to the left of the bed.I am wondering if both brackets are the same, just reversed.

Thanks, Bill
