Hi Bill, the bracket you need is A 13470-A for the early AR pickup. It would be used with the drum type tail light. The bracket mounts to the underside of the bed rail (with a wood block as a spacer) and extends out behind the rear fender. I don't have the book you mentioned so I can't compare that one to the correct one, but if you have Brattons catalog you can see the A 13470-A and the later bracket A 13470-B. Both of these brackets mount the same but the extended section has a different shape. The later bracket used the teacup style tail light.
There was one more style of bracket used even later in production (A 13472-B), I think it was only used on the widebed pickup but not quite sure.
Since discontinued parts were used up on the commercial vehicles it may not be unusual to find an early bracket on a later truck but not the other way around.
