: I wouldn't be to concerned with the Autolite heater. There were problems with the old Ottwell Health heaters because they were cast in one piece including the cover. The manifolds would develope cracks into the chamber area and allow exaust fumes to escape into the chamber and into the car.The Autolite heaters don't typically crack in that area and if they do you can find the proble by removing the cover.

: Another advantage is they are far less likely to warp horizontally (causing misaligned ports) like plain manifolds.

: I don't know what was provided originally to connect the door to the heater assembly.I know someone with a NOS assembly and hope he can find it so I can see the entire kit since I am in a similar situation with my Fordor

I got one of these on my Tudor. When i got the car, there was already a hole in the firewall, but it did not line up properly with the autolite heater cover.I got a radiator hose with a tight curve, and cut a piece about 2 - 3 inches long, and it worked perfectly. The hose was not effected by heat, as that part of the heater is not really hot.The cover is off right now, but I still have the same hose, 20 years later.
