Thanks for the advice.This modern bearing and race sounds very interesting to me.I don't have the latest Snyder's here at work, but I'll check it out as soon as I get home.
You mention that this system eliminates the need for a shaft collar.Are you refering to the collar with the teflon washer to eliminate end play?I have this on mine and it was very difficult to get the new fan to seat far enough on the shaft.I now feel that as I tightened the fan onto the shaft this collar may have pushed the front cup washer into the housing and bound the bearing.I'll know when it's apart.I'd like to eliminate this collar anyway. This modern bearing sounds like it's better suited to swing the heavier cast aluminum fan I've installed.
