Kevin,
Congratulations on getting the engine running. I recently started my rebuilt engine and noticed a similar noise coming from the front of the water pump. I bought a modern front bearing and sleeve from Brattons (part number A8530 M) and the noise is history. This needle bearing has an inner race that presses onto the water pump shaft and eliminates the need for the shaft collar.
