Bob,
Hey this is an all Bob topic.
The first thing I would do is to jack up the front of the car. Then grab one of the front wheels with both hands and wiggle it back and forth and up and down. There should be a little play. If there is alot of play (I know that 'little' is subjective) then try to locate where the play is. Start with the wheels and end up at the steering wheel. As Bob said there are many parts to look at.
