a leaking fuel shutoff valve

Posted by Wayne Parker on December 29, 1997 at 16:41:46

I recently replaced the fuel shutoff valve that screws into the bottom of the gas tank.It is a repro valve. When the valve is turned off it does not leak. However, when it is open, there seems to be a slight leak where the fuel line screws on.By slight, I mean maybe one drop will collect on the shutoff valve and drip onto the floor mat every couple of minutes.I have tightened the fitting quite tight and I am afraid of cracking it if I tighten it much more.Any suggestions as to how I might stop the leak.By the way, the fuel line as well as the glass sediment bowl are repros.
