Pedal shaft Removal & Replacement

I just bought a replacement brake/clutch pedal shaft kit from Snyder's.Now I'm trying to figure out how to remove the old shaft without removing the clutch housing from the car.I can't seem to find any references to how the shaft is retained and removed in any of the reference books i've purchased thus far.Thanks in advance for your help>
