: : I have an older Johnson Messenger 123A 23 channel CB radio I would like to install in my 30 coupe with 12 negative ground system. The radio is a nice small unit.Does anyone have a simple way to permanently mount the radio either on the steering column or the floor?Any antenna hookup hints would be appreciated too.Thanks.

: The way I installed mine was to mount on the right kick-panel cardboard (on its side).I put a mike mount usisng the dash panel screw and the mike sits where I can easily reach it.I used a 48" antenna mounted on the left rear bumper clamp bolt - used the supplied mount but drilled a hole in it to mount on the bolt. This set up works fine and is alot easier to live with than a 9' antenna!

Thanks for the reply, Jack.

I like your idea about mounting the radio on the right side cowl panel.Could you describe how you did that, or describe the mounting bracket or whatever you used to secure the radio to that area? Thanks.
