Multiple disk dry clutch

I have an early 1928 in need of restoration. This vehilce was produced in July of August in one can trust the block number. The clutch is a multiple disk which I understand was discontunued due to problems in November, 1928. This is my first restoration attempt any any advice would be greatly appreciated. I Have two questions:
1. Should I try to restore this vehicle with the original clutch or upgrade to the single plate clutch. I can not find a shop that will tackle a rebuild of the multiple plate clutch, nor can I find a parts supplier. It seems that if this clutch caused such problems that it was discontinued, an upgrade would be the prudent course of action. If an upgrade is indicated, is there a resource that would advise what parts will need to be replaced? Any one have any thoughts on this?

2. The engine block for this vehicle has been cracked. This bolck matches the frame and is the original engine for this vehicle. I have however another engine that is free of cracks. From a resale point of view, would it be better to rebuild the original engine and have the cracks repaired or go with the uncracked block?

Any help will be appreciate.
