bob, with all due respect, i believe you might be in error in some details-- were someone to preserve a hot rod which was built up in the 1940's or 50's, that indeed would be preserving a piece of history.

parting out an original car to build up a new hot rod or street rod today would be destroying the essence of a piece of history, even tho many or all of the unwanted parts could be put to good use in repairing original cars.

the street rods of today are modern, highly sophisticated, high performance cars, which have only a superficial resemblance to the hot rods of the '50's.

there's probably little point in worrying about this one, tho--its only another model a coupe, and as you may remember, they died like flies back in the 50's, cos few people then had any interest in preserving them.
