In Reply to: Radiator Splash Apron: proper mounting of felt pad

: This should be a no-brainer (but, then, I don't have the answer..):the anti-rattle, felt pad for the radiator splash shield was mounted with one rivet hole ('30-'31).Can someone tell me where the precise placement of this hole should be; my splash shield must be a repro (despite its ancient appearnance), because there ain't no such hole. : Common sense would say to place it midway between the sides of the apron, down from the top edge whatever distance is required in order to mount the pad for a snug fit.Have I answered my own question?Just thought I'd ask before I get that gleam in my eye with a whirring drill in my hand... : Thanks! : Gordon Biggar Gordon, Don't drill yet!!!The pad is attached with TWO 9/64" x 3/8" long tubular rivets. You can substitute split rivets but should reverse them so the stapled end compresses the felt. I couldn't get a measurement from either car installed and don't have an apron on the shelf. All I can do is slow you down until someone else can provide the measurements!!! Let's hear from someone! |
