: : Gordon,

: : Don't drill yet!!!The pad is attached with TWO 9/64" x 3/8" long tubular rivets. You can substitute split rivets but should reverse them so the stapled end compresses the felt.

: : I couldn't get a measurement from either car installed and don't have an apron on the shelf. All I can do is slow you down until someone else can provide the measurements!!!

: : Let's hear from someone!

: Party poop!If you didn't keep such late hours, I could have my hole drilled by now.Could it be that Bratton's sent me only one rivet to accompany the single felt pad?

: Perhaps our South African guru is waking by now, and can assist us with the placement of the hole(s).

: Peace

hello, gordon and marco,

i just went out and looked under my '31----it has two rivets, spaced 2 5/16" approx. apart on centres longitudinally, and on vertical centre-line of the felt pad---the felt was mounted on the lateral centre of the apron so that its upper edge was even with the upper edge of the sheet metal---the rivets have a low button head on the rear surface of the apron, next the spring shackles. but owing to the deep compression of the felt surrounding the forward end of the rivets, i wasn't able to see whether the rivets were tubular or split---that area being covered by the rad shell.

the 2 5/16" dim was read with a dividers placed against the rivet heads, and should be accurate within, say .010" or so, altho i would imagine that to be an open tolerance dim, originally.

the felt pad, and the apron appeared to be consistent with original, unmodified condition.

is that what you were looking for?

carla
