Windshield glass replacement

On May 29, Fred Murphy posed the question of how to reinstall the windshield glass.Has anybody done this?Would like to replace it myself.Have removed the old plate glass, repainted the windshield frame, have new glass and glass bedding material.Tried resetting it once myself.Dumb me put the high friction side of the material against the frame instead of the glass and tore the bedding material.Are the corners of the setting material semi-mitered to eliminate the surplus in the corners or what?
