Jim,
Here is what I did.
I removed the pins using a C-Clamp. I put a small socket over the top of the pin to allow it to move up. I used a flat head bolt that was the same diameter as the pin on the bottom of the pin. I cut off the bolt to about 1/4" long so it would not flip over when the clamp was tightened. Just turn the clamp and out it comes. Of course plenty of penatrating oil.
