Snyder's nice little picture on p. A-39 of their catalog shows the fibre washer on the bottom of the distributer shaft.I'm not sure of the use of a similarly shaped metal washer except maybe as a shim in case of wear of the distributer casting. (to prevent up & down slop)
Snyders catalog is good since you get the parts blow out along with the catalog.I've even been known to buy some intimate personal gifts for my wife there once in a while.
