J.R.,

Model A's do not have VIN numbers. They do, however, have an engine number and a frame number. Some states aloow the engine number as the VIN number, other require the frame number, and some will issue you a VIN plate with a VIN number that they assign to your car. In the factory whhen the engine was put into the frame the frame was stamped with the engine number. Thus the frame and engine number were originally the same. After almost 70 years there is a good chance that the engine has been replaced and the numbers do not match.
The frame number is on top of the frame and you have to remove the body from the frame to see it. Or at least raise the body off the frame.
If you car was manufactured in Canada it originally came with some features found only on Canadian built cars. The Canadian cars used Roberson screws instead of Phillips or Slot head screws. There was also a different radiator shell emblem. The Canadian cars also had a different engine number sequence starting with CA, CB, CD etc.
