J.R.

I had an experience with searching for the frame number on my Town Sedan.I had read where these were located and did not want to lift the body off to find it.I knew the engine was not the right one since it was even higher than the numbers listed in so many of the printed references.(As it turns out, after reading an article by George DeAngelis, there were Model A engines built after production ceased and the one in my car was produced sometime in 1938 according to the foreman's production log.) Anyway, during a flywheel ring gear change out, I had the floor boards out and decided to have a look around the frame area where the number was supposed to be.You can imagine my delight when I found the number somewhat near the inner edge of the top frame rail but still far enough back below the body edge that it couldn't have been stamped afterwards.I'm quite sure this is more an exception to the rule but it just goes to show there is no harm in searching. There was several layers of dirt, and other acculmulations between the frame and body that had to be scraped out to see it.
Keep looking though...
John
