Whats the gap?

I thought this would have been asked before, so I spent an hour searching through all previous posts and archives, so I'll ask here.

I just got my new W16Y champion spark plugs.Brattons suggest that the gap be set at .035, but the box that the plugs came in suggest .025.I have looked in the "Model A Shop Manual" and it didn't mention anything about spark gap.I have an old ford restoration manual Circa 1950's and it said spark gap is .025.

I've tryed it both ways. Each time the car started and seemed to run fine, but with the gap at .035 it got a slightly higher top speed or at least I thought it did.

So what do you experts gap your plugs at?
