Back to basics

I hate to ask such basic questions, but I baught a 29 Tudor about 6 months ago, and since then have baught several books on restoration. Now, how about all you fine folks telling me the basics about starting the engine! Where do I set the various controls, and what do i do with them after she warms up? Also, something even more basic, how much air should be in the tires? Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
