Boy, you hit the wrong key, and POW your message is sent!
Anyway, this is a point of variance, but what I understand is that typically the bumperetts were dipped in black paint to cover the riveted plate area. I suppose it depended on the shift workers, work pace, paint supplies, etc.!!This would mean the that whole end would be black, and the black would end in a straight line that might not be perpendicular to the edge of the bumper!
Of course the really early bumperettes were one piece, if you want to get into real 'odball' stuff!! (this was held over longer in Canadian production too)
