Just a thought about the paint guide in
the event that anyone on this board has any
editorial say-so about this publication ----

I think that it really does the restorer
a disservice by not giving paint codes or
formulas.Granted, their disclaimer that
these codes vary over time and by manufacturer
is valid. However, every paint dealer that
I've ever dealt with can work with just about
any manufacturer's number that you
happen to have. Also, the chips are so
small that the computer matching is not
a viable option either since, at least in the
case of my local PPG dealer, at least a 2 X 2 chip
is needed.

I happen to use both lacquer and the single
stage urethanes and having to look
through stacks of chip books for a match
is a pain in the neck.I think it would
be great if the people responsible for
the paint guide would print an adjunct
appendix with the major manufacturer's codes.
