Speedometer

I have a 29 coupe and Ihave been trying to get the speedometer to work for 5 years. I have changed the connection at the Speedometer dash and the underside housing is correct. I have purchased a New Speedometer and new cable housing and have purchased all of the cables from Mac's and Brattons. It seems the cables are all about 1/4 in two short. The current casbles spin out when installed! Any Ideas?
