Bill,

The description provided by Jerry is of the typical accepted hood corners commonly found on original cars.Research a few years back found that there were several subtle variations, but two basic designs of hood corners. All hood corners appeared triangular in shape when installed on the hood.Initially the corners were made of two triangles of leather sewn together on the short sides of the right triangle. This left visible stitching along the bottom and rear of the hood corner.

In late '28 the design was changed to an oddly shaped single piece corner that became triangular when folded for installation. The seem ends up at 30 degrees on the inside of the hood.Since there was no opposite version for right or left, the seam ends up below the rivet on one side and above the rivet on the other. The advantage of the "new design" is the seam provided a buffer that pevented the set end of the 9/64" dia. tubular rivet from scratching the paint on the cowl.

I should also mention that excellent drawings with descriptions were added to the Judging Standards in 1994.

Regards,

Marco
