Stuck rachet nut

I have just started to disassemble the engine in my 1929.Everything was going fine until I tried to get the rachet nut off.Is the nut a regular right handed bolt?I tried blocking the back of the crank shaft and turing the front nut but it would not move.I don't want to bend the crank.The pulley was broken so I have access to the nut.I even used an 18" pipe wrench, but it is too tight.I have learned that patience is the key to getting a Model A apart and back together without supporting the local supply house. Does someone have a good suggestion on how to get the nut off? Thanks in advance, becasue I know soneone out there has the answer. Glenn
