: On one of the AA chassis I have, there is a dual pedal that comes up thru the floor. I'm trying to remember its location. I think it was to the left and back from the clutch pedal. Did some AA have "low range" or what were they for?Ken

Ken

I checked my books last night and got some more information.

The Dual High was "normally" installed with the 3 speed transmission during the period when it was used in the truck. With the advent of the 4 speed tranny in October 1929 the dual high was still available but not normally supplied.By this time the dual high had degenerated into a "dealer installed accessory."(the 1930 truck I am most familiar with had the dual high on a 4 speed. But it also had the dumptruck body and "helper springs" aftermarket accessory on the rear springs indicative of heavy duty.)

The dual high floor pedals have 3 positions with one (forward) direct drive, the middle position freewheel for the pto, and the rear position the "low speed" for hauling loads.

Jim Schild's book is the best source for information on the dual high and the AA truck in general. (including the cutaway diagram)He has a website at [users.aol.com/FordMoVal/schild.htm] and sells his book directly.

Again, hope this helps.Best regards,
Joe
