Enamel or lacquer

Hi Folks,
I want to do some touch-up work on my coupe's paint job.I know what finishes SHOULD be on the car but based on the previous owners previous mechanical blunders, he may very well have painted the car with interior latex paint and a roller!Is there a quick test that I can perform on an inconspicuous area of the body and fenders to tell just what I have.Also how much touchup paint should I have blended? Is there a typical minimum batch amount within the automotive industry?What could I expect to pay for one body and one fender batch.I would expect I'd only need 7-10 ounces of each color.Thanks in advance for your help.
