Kevin,
Enamel will cover laquer but not visa versa. Try rubbing a rag soaked with lacuer thinner on the hidda-spot. If the paint softens in a few rubs it's enamel, if it takes abunch of rubbing it's lacquer. To be on the safe side use enamel. A lot of spray bombs are lacquer and high in solvents, even the primers, shy away from them.

As for how much, depends on the repair and your learning curve. The best place to get those answers is to call the paint supply. I use Dupont's Centari enamels with excellent results. For touch up work use with out the hardeners, hardeners contain isocyinaites sp? which ain't good for the lungs. The color matching varys per location, here it's your first born. Best to ring the supply place. If you choose Centari, their pitch black is great for the fenders and it is cheap! About 60ish bucks a gallon but it's a different price every time I go in. It does come in quarts.

Do you have an compressor and gun? The building supplies around here, Menards for example have some low cost guns, they even have a little touch-up one that may be right for this situation. Remember every job means a new tool for the chest!

Good luck,
GW
