: My '28 tudor gas tank has rust pits completely thru in the weld area where the windshield frame rests on the tank.I have carefully sandblasted these pits and then used muriatic acid in prepartion for leading.I am having trouble tining down inside the pits. You can't sand down into them; you need some kind of chemical treatment.I rinse off the muriatic, then applly the liquid solder flux; it doesn't work that well.I want it to flow on like it does with copper and brass.Any help is greatly appreciated.

G'Day Joe,
We have a powder flux in this part of the world called Tin-Sol which contains a small amount of tin. This might help you with your problem as it is used when re-metalling white metal bearings (Babbit), so maybe you could scrounge a bit from an automotive engineering shop & give it a try.
