: Since my flywheel housing was cracked in the usual places, I picked up a replacement unit locally which was intact, but different in that there are 4 ribs cast into the outer surface which run forward from the bell-housing bolts, (the two center ribs coinciding with the two bottom bell-housing bolts) and end at the front surface of the housing.

: My "original" housing was smooth on its under surface. The illustrations in Page's book indicate that '28 flywheel housings were also smooth.

: Does anyone have an Idea when these features were added??
: I don't find any reference in the service bulletins.

Bob,
I have has several of these also and have been told they are either aftermarket, Ford replacement stock made after the end of Model A production, or made as a Ford replacement for trucks. Take your pick. Anyway, they work fine and should be stronger.
