clutch chatter & freeplay adjustment

I have a clutch that has recently started to chatter when you let it out in either low or reverse gear.The engine was rebuilt about 5,000 miles ago and included a new release bearing, disk and pressure plate.The flywheel was resurfaced.I checked the freeplay and it is 1 1/8".Is this about right?Are there any other possibilities that might cause this?Thanks for your help.This Model A Ford page is the greatest thing since sliced bread.
