:I have a clutch that has recently started to chatter when you let it out in either low or reverse gear. The engine was rebuilt about 5,000 miles ago and included a new release bearing, disk and pressure plate. The flywheel was resurfaced.I checked the freeplay and it is 1 1/8".Is this about right? Are there any other possibilities that might cause this? Thanks for your help. This Model A Ford page is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Wayne, I recently started having what I would describe as "chattering" in a clutch similar to yours. Read new 5000 miles ago. Removing the inspection plate I immediately saw my problem. Whoever assembled the pressure plate neglected to clinch the nuts that adjust the fingers that dis-engage the clutch via the throw-out bearing. One of the fingers was nearly loose. I replaced all the nuts with locking nuts and all has been well since. Something to check. I agree this page is the cat's meow.
