Joe,

1. The Model A has about 40 HP which is about the same as a 1960's VW bug. It does however have over 120 ft-lb of torque. For it's day it was quite peppy.I do not reacll any 0-60 times (many Model As can not reach 60 mph) or 1/4 mile times.
The only number I could find was 5 to 25 miles/hour in 8.5 seconds (1928-1929).

2.There are many many things that can cause steering play. Ideally you should have less than 2" play at the wheel. Open the hood and turn the wheel back and forth while looking at the pitman arm. If the arm does not move while the steering wheel is moving the 2" of play then the play is in the steering box.Otherwise it is in the front end (linkage). It could be out of adjustment or just worn out.

3. Yep, or you could remove the engine and transmission.

4, Yes a wheel puller is needed if the wheel can not be easily removed. Put the nut on the threads and then put a piece of soft metal or hard wood on top of the nut. Now use the puller.

Bob
