I'm in the process of rebuilding the brakes on my '30 and I hit an unexpected snag with installing new brake linings. I bought the thicker linings that Bratton's sells, and the handy little rivet tool that fits in a vise. Everything was going good until I got to the rivets on the ends of the shoes. Trying my best, I can't get the linings to pull up tight. The rivets came through the shoe kind of on an angle and my handy little tool and I messed up quite a few rivets. Can anybody give me some advice on rivetting the shoes, as I am beginning to believe that there is more technique involved than I understand. My emergency brake bands don't even have holes drilled, and my fumbling around with the service brake shoes has made me a little hesitant. Thanks for the help, Michael D |
