Jay,

You just may have started something!!! I assume you have the later cross shaft (introduced Apr-'30) that goes through the frame rails and has the end levers pinned on.

I did some checking and found the typical '30-31 levers are approx. 2-3/4" center to center and 3-1/2" overall (attempting to measure under the car. These levers are A2833-C RH and A2834-C LH. The '28-early'30 cross shaft with the levers that extend from within the rails are longer center to center and appear to be the "-A" version of the lever. I can find no documentation on a longer lever for the earliest release of the later cross shaft. It is conceivable that the first release had levers the same length as the previous design and that would explain where the numbers A2833-B & 34-B went.

If there was a longer lever used, I can say with certainty that it was replaced within one month of introduction. Assuming your's has not been altered in any way I'd like to see it and research further.

As for your question of use, I'd suggest matching the short one remembering that there are right and left sides, and they should be easy and inexpensive to come by. Don't mix them!!!
