--Drag Link Dillema--

Hello Again,

I'm in the process of rebuilding my Drag Link/Tie Rod ends with new plugs, springs etc... The threads in my drag link ends are quite messy and need to be recut. Does anyone out there know off hand the thread size of the openings so that I may borrow the proper tap from a friend?

Also as stated in the service bulletins, my drag link has been reversed for extra clearance for the front brake shaft housing. As I rebuilt the pitman arm side of the drag link it soon became clear that the shallow ball cup that is put in first, blocks the lubricant to the pitman arm ball itself.

The lubricant becomes trapped in the area between the grease fitting and the back of the cup, thus never reaching the ball that needs it.

This explains the severe wear on my old pitman arm ball. The grease fitting is drilled into the tapered area and facing the outside of the car. It is in line with the pitman arm ball opening. Do I need to put in a small grease fitting on the bottom or back side to properly grease the ball.

I've also considered removing the grease fitting and drilling a small hole through the back of the shallow ball cup to allow the grease to pass through, but I thought It was severely weaken the cup. Any information is as always appreciated. Thank You.

Cheers,

Kevin Daly
