i have to concur with joe and david-- the predatory regulation mania is running american industries into bankruptcy-- sadly, to the advantage of industry in various other contries.

i haven't any hard evidence as to whether the "public demand" for regulations of this type is actually propagandistic fiction, bankrolled by foreign businessmen and importers, (notably the communist chinese industries-- just have a look at trade figures), but the economic incentive is obvious.

i would think, that if the public here had any sense whatever of economic self-preservation, they should be outraged, and "say no to propaganda", much as we encourage young people to "say no to taking dope"

p.s. i'd be willing to agree that some forms of asbestos could be dangerous in some circumstances, but from the soap opera material in the media, migawd, they must have the stuff confused with plutonium or something.
