Deinstall the new muffler and compare it with the old, insure the bend on the inlet of the new muffler matches the old one, thus allowing proper alignment. If the bends do not match per a tip I read somewhere, use a scap piece of pipe, broom handle etc insert it in the muffler inlet and bend back into spec.
