: My rebuild is almost complete on my '28 AR engine, and I find out my machine shop, in central Ohio can't deal with the Babbit style main bearings.
I would suggest finding a shop that can pour and line bore the block. There are a lot of shops doing this work and you can find them listed in Hemmings or any of the other Magazines dealing with old cars. In my area(South Carolina)we send the engines to a firm in Charleston, S C. They have been pouring babbit since the 30's and do a good job. They want a turned shaft sent with the block and the last I heard they charge 325.00. They do cut the oil groves as well. I will get the address if anyone is interested. Best of luck, Ben Jenkinson
: I can't leave the old ones in with all those bright shiny new, and expensive, parts.

: Does anyone know of a modern type bearing which could be used instead?

: Your assistance is appreciated
