B Engine with H.C. Head

Looking for inputs on what works and what doesn't work when using a 6:1 head on a standard B block.I am looking into both cast iron and aluminum heads and both the B and A head gaskets. May go with a standard B head but want to know if the higher compression heads are dependable.Appreciate any inputs.
