As the "boys" say it's only for holding the pump in place during pan installation since you were supposed to pull the pan every 3-5K to check your bearings.It's actually a 1/8" N.P.T. but may have been damaged over the years by folks shoving a 3/8 bolt in it.The best suggestion (maybe from DJ)I saw was to get a 1/8" pipe plug.Then drill thru and tap 1/4-20.screw thge plug in the block port, and thread a 1/4-20 brass screw through the plug into the pump pilot to hold it.
