: Is there a trick to getting the gas shut off valve off the gas tank on a 29 CC p-up.It is so tight I'm afraid I'll tear out the bottom of the tank?I don't believe Ford used any left hand threads.Or is there an easy procedure to take the valve apart and rebuild.I know this sounds very basic but it seems that the little things cause the most trouble.

Hi Jim
The original valve is brass and will come out of the tank when you twist it counter clockwise as a normal threaded nut would come off.You could try and apply some penetrating oil to the threads. It`s hard to do when the threads are above the valve but, put some on a rag and tie it to the valve as near to the threads as you can.Maybe enough will work its way to the threads and help loosen it.If you just have to replace the packing, try to remove the nut that is behind the valve handle and do it while attached to the tank.Make sure you have all the gasoline drained out so you don`t have it dripping on your light while working on the valve. You should have enough room under the dash to repack the valve this way if it won`t come out. A little uncomfortable but, it should work.
