One of the beauties of the original design electrical system is that it contains no solid state devices to be damaged by this trick. If you have a solid state cutout modification, it MAY have been damaged, but you'll be able to tell that almost immediately as the ammeter will show no charge if the diode is burned open and the generator will try to "motor" if it is shorted. (once you hook up a charged battery. I have seen this done a few times with no damage at all.

Best regards from Maine, Eric

: I just learned that while I was out of town my son incorrectly connected (negitive ground) the battery on my 1930 Town Sedan.
: He apparently cranked the car several times with this reversed hookup. The battery, which I found disconnected, is completely dead.My question is what other consequences can I expect from his incorrect hook-up?Can I expect damage the generator or other components of the electical system?
