Newbie questions about A's

I am seriously considering purchasing a Model A for weekend
driving.I have a hundred questions, but here are the top
ten
1. Is this a reasonable car for short-haul, casual, "fun"
driving?(comfort, reliability, safety)
2. What size for a family (wife, two young children, dog)?
My head says "Town Sedan," but my heart says "Roadster."
3. How much maintenance is needed (really) to keep one
running safely?
4. What is the feasibility of safety retrofits like seat
belts, hydraulic brakes?
5. What should I look for/avoid when I start shopping?
